A Huntsville man won $3.1 million at a Casino Rama slot machine Wednesdsay — one of the largest ever slot wins in Canada.
Tim Thompson, 52, in fact dreamed he won the jackpot Monday morning and joked to his wife Cindy he would bring home the prize.
He stopped at Casino Rama on Wednesday and won $600 playing table games. He then he tried his luck at the slots, eventually coming across a Megabucks machine that listed a $3.1-million reward — the amount in his dream.
After trying a few machines, he found one he liked and played until the Mega symbols came up on the reels.
“We’re thrilled that Mr. Thompson’s dream was able to come true with us,” said Casino Rama CEO Harry Oshanski.
Thompson said he’ll use the money to get out of debt and pay for a treat for his family.
The jackpot is the second largest slot-machine win in Ontario history. In March 2008, a Toronto woman won $9 million, also a Canadian record.
