Milton man charged in case of giant stolen chicken

A Milton man has been charged in an alleged case of fowl play involving a giant chicken reported stolen from a Brantford-area farm last week.

The eight-feet tall fibreglass chicken was pinched from a poultry farm on Brantford Road in Windham Township in Norfolk County sometime late last Thursday or early Friday, the OPP said.

The suspect allegedly severed the chicken at the feet to remove it from the farm. The statue is valued at $3,000.

Investigators received an anonymous tip about the chicken Tuesday evening. The tipster told police they spotted the giant clawless clucker in a backyard and the 36-year-old homeowner was charged.

Brent Smith is charged with possession of stolen property and will appear in court April 23.
