Part of Yonge subway to close for 3 weekends

Part of the Yonge subway line will be closed for three weekends beginning later this month, the TTC said Wednesday.

The commission said the line will shut down from Union Station to Bloor Station from March 23-25. Regular service will resume 6 a.m. March 26.

The other two weekends have yet to be decided.

The closures are due to construction at King Station. The TTC is installing a double crossover section of subway track, which will allow trains to terminate at King in the event of an emergency.

During the closure, buses will operate between Bloor and Union stations.

Meanwhile, commuters who use Union Station are being warned to set aside some extra time due to construction at the transit hub. Trains are not affected, the TTC said.
