Elton John will celebrate a milestone birthday on Sunday, turning 65 years old.
The pop singer, who released his first album in 1969, planned huge public celebrations for his 50th and 60th birthdays, but sources say this one will pass quietly, with John spending time in North Dakota following a concert there on Saturday.
John, born Reginald Dwight, scored international fame in the 1970s for his stirring piano-based brand of pop. He has broken multiple records throughout his distinguished career, including the best selling single of all time (his Candle in the Wind 1997 tribute to Princess Diana) and the most concerts ever — 60 — at New York’s historic Madison Square Garden.
In 2005, John married his longtime partner, Canadian David Furnish. And the couple adopted a baby boy, Zachary, in 2010.
In addition to touring worldwide, John is also in the middle of a multi-year residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, performing regular stints throughout the year.
