Milton toddler dies following farm accident

Halton police are investigating a tragic farm accident that claimed the life of a one-year-old Milton girl over the weekend.

The child was found in a grassy area on her family’s farm on the Nassagaweya-Puslinch Townline around 3 p.m. Sunday.

She was rushed to a Guelph hospital and was then airlifted to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton where she died of her injuries just before midnight, police said.

Police believe the youngster was hit by a vehicle on the farm and a collision reconstruction team was sent to the property. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the accident.

Authorities aren’t releasing the address of the farm or the name of the child.

But officers are using the tragic accident to remind motorists, whether in rural or urban areas, to be extra cautious of children, especially as the weather warms up.
