TTC chief releases progress report

TTC chief executive Andy Byford has released a report card revealing how the system has performed in areas such as punctuality and safety.

The progress report was presented to the commission at the commission’s regularly-scheduled meeting on Friday.

“The format provides … increased visibility on all of the important measures,” the report stated. “This increased transparency on performance will allow management to be more accountable for that performance.

The document suggests in the last two months of 2011, the Bloor-Danforth and Sheppard subways ran on time and service on the Scarborough RT, buses and streetcars was generally reliable. The TTC also met its targets for employee safety and station cleanliness.

Where it fell short was in escalator access, employee absence and reliability of trains on the Yonge-University-Spadina line.
