Mayor Ford gains a few to weigh 311 pounds

The up-and-down battle to lose weight continued for Mayor Rob Ford this week.

The mayor tipped the scale at 311 pounds at his weekly weigh-in at city hall on Monday. Ford has gained three pounds since his last step on the scale on March 19. He cancelled last week’s event.

Ford has had a lot on his plate — no pun intended — in the past two weeks, including a big defeat on the transit file when the council voted in favour of building light-rail transit on Sheppard Avenue East, rejecting his plan for a subway extension.

A library workers’ strike recently ended and there was labour unrest with the city’s inside workers, some on whom approved a tentative contract offer from the city, and others who didn’t.

Coun. Doug Ford weighed-in at 248.5 pounds. That’s down 27 pounds from his weight in January.

Both brothers are aiming to lose 50 pounds by June.

“I think he’s having a little bit of a struggle but he’s got to get back on board and start working out,” Coun. Doug Ford said of his brother.
