The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) is appealing for help from the public after an injured dog was spotted on Toronto’s streets.
A passerby spotted the animal on Yonge Street, near Gould last Thursday Mar. 29. The dog was with a man, possibly a panhandler, who was carrying a sign that read: “PLEASE HELP! My dog’s operation is $2,000. Thank you and God bless”.
The pedestrian shot a short video of the animal, a medium sized female white dog.
“The video of this animal shows that it’s clearly in need of medical help. The paw appears to be at an awkward angle. It’s hanging. I would venture to say that it’s some type of fracture,” said Scott Sylvia, Ontario SPCA.
The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 40 years old. He was wearing blue jeans, a grey jacket and tan leather shoes. He has short, brown hair and he was wearing glasses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the OSPCA at 1-888-668-7722.
