Mississauga driver charged after teen falls from moving van

Police have charged an 18-year-old from Mississauga after another teen fell from a moving van in the Square One mall parking lot on Saturday evening.

Peel police found the 18-year-old victim when they arrived at the top level of the parking garage around 6:30 p.m.

Const. Thomas Ruttan said it appears the victim had been holding onto the rear bumper of the moving van when he fell and hit his head.

He was taken to a local hospital with what Ruttan called “severe head injuries” and then transferred to Sunnybrook hospital. He remains in critical condition.

The driver, now identified as Daniel Ciliman, has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

He is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on May 7.
