Mayor & brother cancel weekly weigh-in

Mayor Rob Ford has cancelled his weekly weigh-in at city hall for the second time in a month.

The mayor and his brother are on a six-month weight-loss challenge, trying to each lose 50 pounds by June 18. As part of the challenge, cutthewaist.com was launched to encourage Toronto residents to participate and share their dieting stories as well.

Last week when the mayor stepped on the scale, it showed he had gained three pounds to 311 pounds. When he began the challenge in January he weighed 330 pounds.

His brother weighed 248.5 pounds last week, down from 275 pounds in January.

No reason was provided for Tuesday’s cancellation. But the mayor left council’s regular monthly meeting on Tuesday morning because he pulled his back and needed to see his doctor.
