Wind dislodges window pane from 30th floor of Pantages Hotel

The intersection of Shuter and Victoria was briefly closed after a window pane came loose from the 30th floor of the Pantages Hotel as a result of high winds, police confirm with CityNews.

Police received a call at 7:40 p.m. after a pane was spotted hanging precariously.

Fire crews were summoned and managed to prevent the glass from crashing down to the busy streets below.

“They were actually physically holding the window at one point…before they could get some ropes into place,” Sgt. John Margetson told CityNews.

“There was a high potential for hazard for the public down below and a hazard for the firefighters…”

No injuries have been reported.
