A 33-year-old man is facing numerous charges after police allege he broke into a plane at Pearson International Airport on Monday morning.
The COPA Airlines plane was isolated in a remote area when the man was found around 8:30 a.m., the Greater Toronto Airports Authority said.
The plane was swept for explosives, but was determined to be safe.
“The GTAA takes this incident very seriously – any breach of security cannot be tolerated,” the GTAA said in a release.
“We will continue to work with Peel Police and Transport Canada as we review our security programs.”
Trevor Kendall has been charged with mischief over $5,000, break and enter to a plane, endangering the safety of an aircraft and obstruct police.
Police wouldn’t say how he was able to access the aircraft.
