Police have charged a 60-year-old Woodbridge man they say tried to kidnap a woman in the city’s east end.
The victim, 22, was walking alone near Broadview Avenue and Dundas Street East around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when the stranger allegedly grabbed her from behind.
She broke free, but soon after, the man allegedly grabbed her a second time.
She escaped again, and a bystander called police.
About an hour later, officers arrested Suleyman Demirbas and charged him with two counts of attempt forcible confinement and assault.
He was scheduled to appear in an Old City Hall courtroom on Sunday morning.
