Art stolen from SickKids hospital found

Police say art stolen from the Hospital for Sick Children last week has been found. The prints were apparently discovered in the Bloor-West Village area.

On Tuesday police released a security image of a suspected art thief after nine 46×46-centimetre framed prints of alphabet letters were removed from SickKids’ Burton Wing on April 19.

A plaque with the artist’s name — Darren Rigo — was also taken.

Police told CityNews the art has been found but there’s no word on a suspect. The stolen prints were reportedly discovered Wednesday in a ravine near Bloor Street and Runnymede Road.

The alleged thief is described as white, six feet tall, medium build, dark-brown hair, and he wore glasses with dark frames.

He was clean-shaven, wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt, dark pants and black shoes. He may have left in a light-coloured, four-door Mercedes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.
