Third annual Canadian Video-Game Awards air Saturday on Citytv

They honour the year’s best in Canadian-made video games, celebrating the growing video-game production industry in the country.

The third annual Canadian Video-Game Awards (CVGA) are set to air Saturday night on Citytv.

CVGA co-founder and television host Victor Lucas started the awards to showcase the vibrant industry in the country.

“We really don’t do this as a business, we do this because we love this industry and we want to support it,” Lucas said.

Here in Canada, we are turning out some of the biggest and best video games in the world.

“Not only we are excelling in Canada at making huge studio massive global brand games, like Assassins Creed, Need for Speed,” Lucas said. “Even the independent teams are excelling and doing some incredible work out there and being recognized all over the world.”

“It’s super exciting to be putting on an award show, to put these guys in the spotlight and applaud them,” Lucas said.

The awards air Saturday night at 8 p.m. on Citytv.
