2 women found dead in Barrie hotel stabbed

Two women, who were found dead in a Barrie hotel earlier this week, were both stabbed in the neck, The Canadian Press reported Friday.

The bodies of Helen Dorrington, 52, and Mary Hepburn, 32, were found at the Travelodge on Bayfield Street near Highway 400 on Wednesday afternoon. Their autopsies were conducted Thursday.

Mark Dobson, 22, of Barrie was taken to hospital from the same hotel Wednesday afternoon and was in stable condition the next day. He was in police custody on Thursday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

He is expected to make a court appearance on May 9.

Police were dispatched to the Travelodge shortly after 2 p.m. and discovered the bodies at the north end of the hotel.

The three knew each other, but police haven’t said how.
