5 things to do this weekend: tequila tasting, Picasso & spring sprint

As our regular CityNews.ca series continues, we look at events happening May 5-6 in Toronto for a range of ages and interests.

For Families: Many people have only seen his work in art history books, but your family can get the chance to see Picasso’s paintings up close at the Art Gallery of Ontario. About 150 works by the Spanish artist are here on loan from Paris. The exhibit runs until Aug. 26. For Singles: Get to know many of Toronto’s streets during any one of Jane’s Walk tours this weekend. Activist Jane Jacobs, who died in 2006, is known for her role in stopping the Spadina Expressway in the 70s. Alejandra Bravo will be leading a walk on St. Clair West and talking about its soccer history. It is one of more than 120 walks scheduled in the city on Saturday and Sunday. For Kicks: If you didn’t get to escape to sunny Mexico during the winter you can enjoy the next best thing this weekend at the Tequila and More Show. For Charity: Lace up to walk or run in Brampton’s annual David Bloom Memorial Spring Sprint. Participants can sign up for a 3K or 10K route to raise money for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
