1 dead in fiery Highway 401 crash

One person has died and two more are in hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash and subsequent fire on Highway 401.
A BMW and a tractor-trailer collided in the westbound lanes north of Dixon Road around 7 a.m. Sunday.
The BMW was engulfed in flames and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people from the tractor-trailer were taken to Sunnybrook hospital.
The westbound lanes were completely closed at Dixon Road as crews worked to clear the road.
“A BMW struck the guardrail and went out into a live lane and then was struck by a tractor-trailer,” Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Dave Woodford said.
“The tractor-trailer then went over the left guardrail, spilling fuel into the east- and west-bound lanes.”
Police are looking for witnesses.
