Tragically Hip discuss Canada Day long weekend concerts

The Tragically Hip will perform in Niagara-on-the-Lake and near Barrie over the Canada Day long weekend and drummer Johnny Fay stopped by Breakfast Television Thursday to discuss the shows.

“It’s going to be loud – we’re going to turn it up,” Fay, who’s married to CityNews sports anchor Kathryn Humphreys, said.

“We’ll play some songs from our new record that comes out in September,” he added.

The band has been together for nearly 30 years and has collected 14 Junos.  Their 13th album, which is still untitled, will be released in the fall.

Fay said friendship has kept The Hip together for so many years.

“It’s the most important part. It’s the thing that gets you through when you’re on the road,” Fay said.

“And we respect each other musically.”

Fay said the band is offering a prize package – including a camping pass – for the Burl’s Creek show.  Find out how you can win four VIP tickets, a hotel stay, a signed guitar and all you need to camp out at Burl’s Creek next week on Breakfast Television.

The Tragically Hip will play Niagara-on-the-Lake on June 30 and in Burl’s Creek on July 1. Click here for tickets.
