Blue Jays recall Lind, activate Francisco

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled Adam Lind and activated Ben Francisco while Mike McCoy and David Cooper have been optioned to triple-A Las Vegas.

The Blue Jays optioned Lind to the 51s back last month to iron out his swing and clear his mind, subsequently removing him from the 40-man roster. Over his last 10 games through Saturday, he’s hitting .375/.419/.850 with four homers, five doubles, 12 RBIs and three walks.

“Well, Edwin (Encarnacion) will be in the role he’s done,” Jays manager John Farrell said of his lineup.

“Obviously in the National League you’ve got him in the field every day. If we can get another left-handed bat in the lineup, we’ll look to do that — and that can give Edwin a chance to DH, a chance to play first — whether it’s Coop, Adam Lind is swinging the bat very well in Las Vegas, those are the things we’ll continue to discuss.”

The Jays have also placed Sergio Santos on the 60-day DL to make room for Lind on the 40-man roster.
