Toronto extends heat alert for 3rd day

The City of Toronto has extended a heat alert for the third day and the warm temperatures and sunny skies are expected to last through the long weekend.

With Pride in full swing and Canada Day activities already beginning, the temperatures are set to soar to 32 C on Saturday.

On Sunday and Monday, Toronto will see a high of 28 C, Environment Canada said.

During a heat alert, the city’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. David McKeown is urging people to check in on friends and relatives, especially isolated adults and seniors. Anyone with heat-related illness can call 311 for help during heat alerts.
