Police discover Scarborough meth lab

Toronto police have discovered a meth lab at an apartment in Scarborough.

Police attended a residence at 190 Borough Drive near Ellesmere and McCowan roads after someone from the unit below complained of a strange leak.

The drug squad was called and will remain at the scene overnight. The lab will be dismantled on Tuesday.

Police tell CityNews one suspect escaped after leaping from the 30th floor balcony down to the unit below.

After extensive air quality testing and consultation with Health Canada, the building was deemed safe and no evacuations were ordered.

“We are satisfied at this time that the building is safe, that what is inside is contained, there are no reactions happening,” said Det. Roger Desrouchers, Toronto Drug Squad.

An investigation is ongoing.
