Minnesota Wild sign coveted free agents Suter, Parise to 13-year deals

Free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter have both agreed to 13-year, $98-million contracts with the Minnesota Wild.

Parise, 27, who was arguably the most sought-after player on the NHL free agent market, spent the past seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils.

The former Devils captain posted 31 goals, 38 assists, and a minus-5 rating in 82 games last season. He added an additional 15 points in 24 playoff games.

In 502 career games with the Devils, the American forward has compiled 194 goals, 216 assists, and 177 penalty minutes.

He was a member of the 2010 U.S. team that won a silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics. Parise finished third in the tournament in scoring and was named to the all-star squad.

The Devils selected Parise in the first round (No. 17 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Suter, also 27, was the top blueliner on the NHL free agent market and spent the past seven seasons with the Nashville Predators.

He was also a member of the 2010 U.S. team that won a silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics.

The Amercian defenceman finished with seven goals, 39 assists, and a plus-15 rating in 79 games last season. He added an additional four points in 10 playoff games.

In 542 career games with Nashville, Suter has posted 38 goals, 200 assists, and 396 penalty minutes.

The Predators selected Suter in the first round (No. 7 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
