A High Park playground destroyed by arson is just days away from reopening.
Hundreds of volunteers have been rebuilding the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground but, because of the heat wave, were not able to finish it by the Saturday ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Celebrity contractor Mike Holmes, who is leading the construction, said the new play castle and the rest of the area will be open to children on Friday.
On March 17, fire destroyed the wood castle anchoring the area on the west side of the park.
Canadian Tire, a local TD Canada Trust branch and residents donated enough to cover the cost, and Holmes and his crew gave their time.
Christian Kupiecki, 19, was arrested days after the fire and charged with arson and attempting to obstruct justice.
