Chef Massimo Capra to open 2 Pearson airport restaurants

Toronto celebrity chef Massimo Capra will be opening two restaurants at Pearson International Airport in the fall, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) says.

Capra, co-owner of Mistura and Sopra Upper Lounge on Davenport Road, will be offering Italian food at the two locations in Terminal 1, the GTAA said Monday in a release.

Boccone Trattoria Veloce will be a full service, casual dining restaurant, while Boccone Pronto will offer quick service in Terminal 1’s U.S.-transborder departures area.

“It was a no brainer,” Capra said in the release. “I believe we will deliver a new and exciting change to Toronto Pearson and its travelers.”

Capra was the creative force behind the re-launch of the Rainbow Room in Niagara Falls’ Crown Plaza Hotel. He also regularly appears on Citytv’s Cityline, is a columnist for the Globe and Mail and is the host of Food Network Canada’s Restaurant Makeover.

The GTAA said it’s thrilled to have Capra on board.

“Having Chef Massimo bring his expertise and love of food to Toronto Pearson is very exciting for the airport,” Pamela Griffith-Jones, GTAA’s chief marketing and commercial officer, said in the release.

Pearson airport has 61 restaurants, and the GTAA recently announced that 13 other restaurants would be opening there in 2013.
