Public service videos rolled out to help stop 'butt' dialing

Toronto police have released YouTube videos to help reduce the number of pocket dialing to 911.

According to police, there were 7,370 pocket-dial calls made to 911 in June. Operators have to process each call to determine if it is a pocket dial or an emergency.

Last year in Toronto, 107,000 pocket-dials were made to 911 and 116,000 calls to 911 were mis-dials.

The number of pocket-dials or mis-dials to 911 have decreased since January, but police are still attempting to have the number decrease even further.

Police advise anyone who mis-dialed or pocket-dialed 911 to speak to the operator and explain.
