The Amazing Spider-Man, a reboot of the popular comic book franchise, topped the weekend box office, raking in US $65 million.
Ted, which follows a foul-mouthed teddy bear, took in $32.5 million, according to website boxofficemojo.com.
Rounding out the top three was the latest from Pixar. Brave, which follows a young Scottish girl who rebels against her mother, made $20 million.
The Spider-Man franchise was last in theatres just five years ago, with actor Tobey Maguire donning the famous red and blue tights for the third and final time in 2007.
Last week, Ted was at the top of the box office. The film, written and directed by Seth MacFarlane and starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, has made $120 million so far.
