Caribbean Carnival Toronto

One of the biggest and best parties of the year — Caribbean Carnival Toronto — is underway.

The spirit of the islands took over the GTA on Tuesday, complete with steel drums, vibrant costumes and high spirits for a three-week-long celebration running until Aug. 5.

More than 20,000 dancers and 10 pan orchestras participated in last year’s parade, and organizers expect that number to be even bigger in 2012.

Send us photos and videos of the many Carnival events including Junior Carnival and Family Day on July 21, the King and Queen Competition on Aug. 2 at Lamport Stadium, the Pan Alive steel drum competition on Aug. 3 at Lamport Stadium, the Grand Parade on Lake Shore Boulevard on Aug. 4, and the Beyond Da Lime party at Ontario Place on Aug. 4-5.
