A funeral service will be held next week for 14-year-old Shyanne Charles, one of two young people gunned down at a community barbecue in Scarborough that also wounded 23 others on Monday.

A visitation for Shyanne will be held 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on July 27 at Highland Funeral Home in Scarborough. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. July 28 in the chapel there.

She and the other innocent bystanders were shot when at least two men fired at each other and then into the crowd of more than 100 people at the block party on Danzig Street on Monday evening.

Shyanne’s family requested that white attire be worn for both the visitation and funeral service.

On Friday evening, community members participated in a walk at Kingston and Galloway roads in memory of Shyanne and the other victim, Joshua Yasay, 23, of Ajax.

Funeral details for Yasay were released a day earlier.

A viewing for Yasay, who was a mentor, youth worker for at-risk kids and entrepreneur, will be held Saturday and Sunday at McEachnie Funeral Home in Ajax from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

The funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Ajax.
