Woman survives fall into Niagara Gorge

A woman amazingly suffered only minor injuries after falling into the Niagara Gorge on Friday morning.

The 38-year-old went over the retaining wall at River Road in Niagara Falls around 3:30 a.m. She was able to walk up part of the gorge on her own before being rescued from a secondary ledge about seven metres down. She was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters used infrared cameras to locate the woman in the bushes.

There’s no word yet on what caused her to fall.
