3 people arrested after man shot in the leg downtown

Police arrested three people after a man was shot downtown Monday morning.
The shots rang out around 5 a.m. near Richmond Street and University Avenue. The victim was hit in the leg.
Police found a handgun and multiple shell casings near the scene and took the trio into custody.
Insp. Howie Page said officers patrolling the downtown core heard gunshots and responded. As officers approached Richmond Street they saw three people running from the scene.
“There was a short foot pursuit and officers were successful in apprehending all three individuals,” Page said.
Authorities believe extra officers on patrol this weekend enabled them to make the quick arrests.
