KiSS 92.5 ‘Wham Bam’ heats up at Molson Amphitheatre

One of the biggest concerts of the summer happened at the Molson Amphitheatre on Thursday as acts like Carly Rae Jepsen and B.o.B. took to the stage for the KiSS 92.5 Wham Bam.

Singer B.o.B. said that performing in front of a crowd is the payoff for writing music alone, adding there was only one thing better than a live show: “I wouldn’t say it’s better than sex, because that would be pushing it, but…”he trailed off, laughing.

B.o.B. was among several performers that took the time to chat backstage. English singer Conor Maynard spoke to DJ Dave Blezard after his set.

“The audience were absolutely amazing. They were ready for it and they wanted to party. It was great,” he said.

British boy band The Wanted didn’t take the stage until midnight. Before their set, the band said they had an unexpected welcome at Pearson.

“Our fans at the airport sounded like an earthquake,” the band said.

“It was amazing.”

The party continued all night long, with the biggest cheers reserved for Canadian singer Jepsen. She performed her hit single Call Me Maybe and also brought out singer Adam Young from Owl City to perform their duet Good Time.

In addition to headliners The Wanted and Jepsen, other performers included Cher Lloyd, American singer-songwriter The Ready Set, Owl City (of Fireflies fame) and Karmin, an American duo whose cover of Nicki Minaj’s Superbass led to a performance on Ellen.
