One Direction pop-up store opens in Toronto

Fans of the British boy band One Direction stayed up all night on Friday in anticipation of the group’s pop-up store on Yonge Street.

“It’s going to magic. It’s going to be heaven,” one young fan told CityNews.

“I’m going to freak out.”

The store, which sells One Direction merchandise including hoodies and dolls, opened on Yonge near Isabella Street on Saturday.

One Direction was put together by music mogul Simon Cowell on the UK version of reality singing show The X Factor in 2010. 1D, as they are known to their fans, were signed to Cowell’s label Syco Music in 2011.

Members Harry Styles, 18, Louis Tomlinson, 20, Liam Payne, 18, Zayn Malik, 19, and Niall Horan, 18, performed at the closing of the Olympic ceremonies and had two shows at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre in June.

The store closes on Sept. 2.
