The one-year anniversary of Jack Layton’s death is Wednesday, and many in Canadian cities including Toronto will be celebrating the late Opposition leader’s life.
Layton’s ashes will be interred during a private ceremony attended by his wife MP Olivia Chow and two children at the Toronto Necropolis cemetery in Cabbagetown.
There will also be a special tribute to Layton, including a 6 p.m. concert at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown, where last year mobs of people spontaneously gathered and left chalk messages for him after he published his final letter of love, hope and optimism to Canadians.
