Crash at downtown Terroni restaurant being probed

Toronto police are investigating after the driver of cube truck crashed into the patio of a downtown restaurant on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened at the Terroni on Adelaide Street near Church Street around 1:45 p.m.

Witness Winston Sih was eating inside the restaurant at the time. He said a server asked him and other diners to leave, but wouldn’t say why.

Sih walked around the back, where he saw the large truck.

Paramedics were working on someone who appeared to be in their 20s, Sih said. It’s not yet known if the person was in the truck or on the patio.

It’s not yet known what caused the crash.

Calls to police and restaurant management were not immediately returned.
