Brett Lawrie suffered a setback in his return to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Lawrie felt discomfort in his ribcage Tuesday and has been temporarily shut down from his rehab.
The team determined Lawrie still needs rest and he will not be eligible to return to a rehab game until Monday at the earliest.
Lawrie has not played since Aug. 3 after suffering an oblique injury. He had one at-bat Saturday with the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays before being pulled from the game as a precautionary measure due to slippery field conditions
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said it is too early to determine if Lawrie will be shut down for the rest of the season.
