House fire in Burlington causes $500K in damages

A house fire on Delaney Court in Burlington caused nearly half a million dollars in damages, deputy fire chief Jeff Weber  said.

Fire fighters worked through the night to extinguish the blaze. It began near New Street and Appleby Line around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.

“Firefighters encountered a large volume of fire and smoke on arrival. The entire roof was engulfed,” Weber said.

No injuries were reported, but police evacuated neighbouring residences as a precaution.

The fire is not considered suspicious, Weber said.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
