The search for a possible missing swimmer in Lake Ontario just east of Woodbine Beach has been called off.
Around 3 p.m. police received a call from a lifeguard station, saying someone was seen clinging to a buoy. The person then disappeared from sight.
There have been no missing people reported, but rescuers, including volunteers, formed a human chain and searched the water as a precaution.
They didn’t find anything.
“It’s unclear if (the person went) under the water, or they simply swam away, but we are taking all precautions to search the water,” Const. Wendy Drummond told CityNews.
