3 dead, including gunman, in New Jersey supermarket shooting

A former Marine killed two people before turning the gun on himself during a shooting at a New Jersey supermarket on Friday.

The 23-year-old Marine had worked at the Pathmark store in Old Bridge, N.J., for about two weeks, NBC reported.

One of the victims was an 18-year-old woman. The other was a 24-year-old man. Both worked at the store.

The supermarket was scheduled to open at 6 a.m. but is closed for the investigation. At the time of the shooting, employees were inside setting up for the day.

Sources told NBC the shooter had an argument with his coworkers on Friday morning, went out to his car and got a gun. He returned to the store and opened fire.

SWAT teams surrounded the Pathmark around 4 a.m. and later set up a command post in the area.  Other employees took shelter at a nearby TGI Friday’s.

The gunman was later identified by a military spokesman as Terence S. Tyler. He served in the Marine Corps from 2008-2010.

Police are investigating.
