Several Toronto residents are holding a march on Monday to symbolically reclaim the Christie Pits neighbourhood from an alleged sexual predator.
So far, 10 women have come forward to police to report being sexually assaulted while walking alone in the Annex and Kensington Market in July and August.
Police believe one man is responsible for at least eight of the assaults.
“It is an important time to take action, build resistance and take up space,” the event’s organizers said on their Facebook page.
The march will start 7 p.m. in Christie Pits Park and last about two hours. Around 400 people have said they will be there.
The suspect is described as male, black, 25-40 years old and six feet tall with short black hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416−808−7474 or Crime Stoppers
anonymously at 416−222−TIPS (8477).
