6 shootings & 3 Scarborough homicides linked: police

Homicide investigators say they have uncovered links between six shootings and three homicides including the two at the Danzig outdoor barbecue in Scarborough this summer.

Toronto police will hold a news conference to provide more details at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Det. Sgt. Brett Nicol will be in the rear parking lot at 3847 Lawrence Ave. E. to explain what happened to D’Mitre Barnaby, 24,  who died of gunshot wounds nearby on Dec. 30, 2011. He will also provide a DVD with security camera footage showing the events leading up to and after Barnaby’s death.

Further east of Lawrence, Det. Sgt. Peter Trimble will hold a news conference in the parking lot at 105 Danzig Street to provide details about the deaths of Shyanne Charles, 14, of Scarborough and Joshua Yasay, 23, of Ajax. Twenty-three others were injured July 16 in what was the biggest shooting in Toronto history.

Police believe the three murders are connected with the six shootings that occurred between Sept. 4, 2011, and Aug. 10, 2012, and that the Galloway Boys street gang is linked to these events.
