Family of boy killed in murder-suicide mourn

The mother of a six-year-old Milton boy murdered by his father, who then killed himself, is mourning with relatives in Mississauga and too devastated to speak publicly.

Tanya Brancalion was also too devastated Monday to return to the home on Clark Boulevard where the murder occurred, so the grandfather and cousins went to collect some of her son’s belongings, including a skateboard, a terrarium and some clothing.

Neighbours told CityNews that the boy’s grandfather, Rick Brancalion, was likely the one who found the bodies of Wojciech Kosalka, 43, and his child, Noah Kosalka, on Saturday at the home, near Thompson Road South and Derry Road West.

Their deaths were ruled a murder-suicide by Halton police on Sunday, and an autopsy was done the same day at Hamilton General Hospital. Police said the cause of death wouldn’t be disclosed.

Neighbours say Kosalka was a chef, and Brancalion is a teacher.

A YouTube video posted recently by Noah’s mother shows the beautiful, sensitive child playing with a fish in the water. He had just started Grade 1.

A visitation and funeral service will be held for both father and son on Friday and Saturday, respectively, at the Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens & Reception Centre in Oakville.
