Man accused of human trafficking arrested

A man wanted on human trafficking and juvenile prostitution charges in Toronto has been arrested.

Officers say two girls, ages 14 and 15, were taken from a group home northwest of Toronto and brought to the Sherbourne Street area in downtown as prostitutes.

On Sunday, Anthony Merchant, 21, was arrested and also charged with several offences, including procuring a person to become a prostitute and trafficking in persons.

Police learned of the allegations around noon Saturday and less than six hours later, arrested the first person, a 16-year-old young offender, charging her with similar offences.
