Skating coach charged in historical sexual assault

A 53-year-old former skating coach has been charged in connection with a historical sexual assault.

It is alleged that between 1983 and 1990 he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy who was his student.

The assaults lasted until the boy was 19.

Kevin Michael Hicks has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of buggery.

Hicks has coached with Woodbine Winter Skating Club, Weston Skating Club, Windsor Skating Club and Burlington Skating Club.

He also coached figure skating in Burlington, Toronto Mississauga and Windsor during the 1980s.

Police believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-2305.
