Olympic parade, Word on the Street & AIDS Walk to shut down streets this weekend

The Word on the Street festival is among the events set to close roads in the city this weekend.
The Olympic Heroes Parade, honouring Canadian athletes who competed in the London Games, on Friday will shut down several downtown streets for the morning rush hour and afternoon.
The event starts at Bay and Queen streets at 11:30 a.m., heads south on Bay to Wellington, west on Wellington and then south on Yonge to Bremner Boulevard. There will be intermittent road closures in the area between 6 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Streets in the Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue area will be off-limits Saturday afternoon for the Tour de Black Creek bike race for kids. The event runs between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The 22nd of the massive book and magazine festival, Word on the Street, will take over Queen’s Park Crescent, from Bloor Street down to College on Sunday. The road will be closed starting Saturday at 4 a.m. until Sunday at midnight.
And the annual AIDS Walk in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) goes Sunday at 11 a.m. It will close downtown streets from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. in an area bounded by Queen Street to the south, Yonge to the west, Charles to the north and Jarvis to the east.
