Motorcyclist seriously injured in Whitby collision

A 28-year-old man has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle motorcycle collision on Valleywood Drive in Whitby.
Police say it happened shortly after 3:30 p.m., Saturday.
Witnesses told police they saw a motorcycle driving eastbound on Knotty Pine Drive at a high rate of speed.
The motorcycle reportedly went through a stop sign at Valleywood and as the driver attempted to turn he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway, mount the curb and strike a brick flower garden.
He received serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto area hospital by air ambulance.
The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated.
Police say charges are pending.
