‘Bachelor Canada’ app includes live chat, fantasy pool

With less than a week to go until the series premiere, The Bachelor Canada has launched a brand-new app that allows viewers to watch along with friends and ‘bet’ on the eventual winner in a virtual rose ceremony.
The app also features a live chat, a fantasy pool, and behind-the-scenes blog posts from bachelor Brad Smith and host Tyler Harcott.
“This is the first time a co-viewing app has been available to viewers in the history of The Bachelor franchise,” Andrea Gagliardi, senior director and general manager of broadcasting at Rogers Digital Media, said.
“We are thrilled to be able to launch this unique, homegrown initiative for The Bachelor Canada.”
The free app is available for the the BlackBerry PlayBook on BlackBerry App World and on the iPad via the App Store or at iTunes.ca.
“Not only will fans of the show be able to watch Brad’s search for love play out each week, but through the app and expanded online content, they can take this journey with him and truly make the experience their own,” Gagliardi said.
Exclusive online features for the app include the live chat, where viewers can chat with other fans of the show. They’ll also hear straight from Smith and Harcott, who will be taking part in the chat on select dates.
During the virtual rose ceremony, viewers can select their own top bachelorettes. Each vote comes with a chance to win great prizes including a trip for two to the live taping of The Bachelor Canada After The Final Rose special.
In the fantasy pool, contestants can answer The Bachelor Canada trivia questions. The player with the most points will win a trip for two to a fantasy destination.
The app also includes an episode guide, episode recaps, photo galleries and full episodes.
The reality show kicks off 9 p.m. on Oct. 3.
