Suspects sought after sex assaults in High Park & North York park

Police are searching for suspects after two separate sexual assaults were reported at High Park and another park in North York over the weekend.

A woman was sitting on a bench in High Park around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when a man approached, tried to engage her in conversation and then assaulted her. The assault happened in the northwest part of the park, police said.

The suspect is described as black with a light complexion; between five feet, six inches tall and five feet, eight inches tall; in his 20s; and has short curly black hair.

Another woman was attacked at gunpoint on Sunday morning in a park near Finch Avenue and Don Mills Road.

Police said the woman was walking her dog around 9:30 a.m. when a man tried to engage her in a conversation. Police said the man then grabbed the woman, pointed the gun to her ribs and forced her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

The woman called police when she returned home and she was taken to hospital.

The suspect is described as black, in his 20s, with braided hair and tattoo “sleeves” on both arms. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.
