WestJet plane returns to Pearson due to mechanical issue

A WestJet airplane has been redirected to Pearson airport due to a mechanical issue, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) tells CityNews.

GTAA spokesman Scott Armstrong said WS 2600 landed safely without incident at Pearson shortly before noon. Fire and emergency crews stood by as a precaution.

No injuries or damages were reported.

The flight was on its way to Kingston, Jamaica, from Toronto, according to WestJet’s website.

WestJet couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
