Blue Jays GM Anthopoulos hopes to strengthen starting rotation for next season

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos says his team’s biggest need for next season is a stronger starting rotation.

He says it will definitely be a “major area of our concentration” in the off-season.

Anthopoulos held a 30-minute media availability before the club’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Twins at Rogers Centre.

It has been a disappointing season for the Blue Jays, who enter the last game of the year with a 72-89 record.

Several Toronto pitchers went down with injuries this season and ace Ricky Romero struggled over the second half of the year.

The Blue Jays played well over the first few months but had a poor second half and have been out of playoff contention for weeks.
